It's unfortunate that this flu season has been so aggressive! There are a lot of quick & easy tips to stay prepared incase you find yourself feeling unwell.
Supporting your body through diet & exercise, as well as through herbs can come in handy.
This season is also known as sugar season. Sugar can cause inflammation in the body - and well, when you're sick - this can make it much worse. Eating foods to help nourish & support your body can make all the difference.
Your lymphatic system doesn't have a "pump" per say like your heart that pumps the blood. When you walk, jump, or run, this helps keep your lymphatic system draining and moving. This is key. You don't want anything hanging around in your lymph. Your immune system depends on a healthy lymphatic system.
Tips:
Get your body moving at least 30 minutes per day - this supports a healthy lymphatic system - this can be as simple as going for a walk
Avoid ultra-processed foods & other foods high in sugar
Including seasonal foods into your diet - Eat those dark, leafy greens & root veggies!
Stay hydrated - drink plenty of water - this is much harder this time of year when it's not so hot!
Get enough sunlight - keep your Vitamin D levels in check
Herbs that may support:
Elderberry - supports the immune response
Echinacea - can especially help at first signs of a cold
Thyme - loosens mucus
Astragalus - an immune tonic
Garlic - antimicrobial
Ginger - warming & supports healthy circulation
Peppermint - cooling & soothing
